Party Game Picker

Can’t agree what to play? Let the wheel choose.

How to use the Party Game Picker

The hardest part of a party is not the games, it is the twenty minutes spent deciding which one to play while everyone waits politely. Spinning skips that entirely.

  • Remove anything you do not have the space or equipment for before spinning.
  • Agree in advance that whatever it lands on, you play — otherwise you are back to negotiating.
  • Elimination mode gives you a full running order for the evening in one go.

Why deciding the game is harder than playing it

A party rarely stalls because nobody can think of a game. It stalls because everyone has a mild preference and nobody wants to be the one who insists. That negotiation eats real time while people stand around holding drinks, waiting for someone to just pick something. Spinning removes the negotiation entirely, since nobody chose, the wheel did.

The ten games and why they need almost no setup

Charades and Two Truths and a Lie need nothing beyond people willing to talk. Musical Chairs and Freeze Dance need music and floor space, nothing else. Hot Potato needs one small object. Every game on this list can start within a minute of the wheel landing, which matters at a party where momentum is fragile and a ten-minute setup delay kills the energy the spin just created.

Committing to the result before you spin

Agree out loud, before the wheel moves, that whatever it lands on is what the group plays. Skipping this step tends to produce a re-spin the moment the result is not someone's favourite, which puts the group right back in the negotiation the wheel was supposed to end. The commitment has to happen before the spin, not after seeing a result somebody dislikes.

Clearing the wheel of games you cannot actually run

A small apartment cannot run Scavenger Hunt across five rooms, and a group with no music source cannot run Musical Chairs properly. Remove anything the specific space or equipment cannot support before spinning, rather than discovering the mismatch after the wheel has already picked it. Thirty seconds of editing prevents an awkward mid-party rethink.

Building a full evening's running order in one pass

Turn on Elimination mode and spin through the whole list at the start of the night rather than one game at a time. This produces an entire running order in seconds, and removes the recurring "what do we play next" moment that otherwise repeats every twenty minutes throughout the evening.

Going deeper into one specific game

Once the wheel lands on Charades, the Charades Wheel supplies the actual words to act out. Once it lands on Truth or Dare, the Truth or Dare Wheel and its companion prompt wheels take over from there. If it lands on something more physical, the Twister Spinner calls the moves for an actual game of Twister rather than just naming it on the list. This wheel decides which game; the game-specific wheels handle everything after that.
